John's Story
Summer of 1997:
Life was great! Two fantastic kids, new home, great career and the Little League team that I coached was a true contender! Then my life changed for ever. At 41, I suffered a brain aneurysm that left me with a brain injury and unable to return to my busy life. I am no longer independent and require the assistance of others to help me with most things that I used to take for granted. I never thought this could happen to me! After several years in rehabilitation and hospitals the worst blow came when the doc’s told me I would have to live in a long term care facility.
Winter of 2001:
My life changed for the better! Pathways answered the call to provide a supported home for people who have suffered a severe brain injury. With excellence they have answered my prayer for consistent, therapeutic and respectful care.
With your help, we now live in a new fully accessible home that is close to our families, recreational activities, city programs, medical appointments and even a walk to Dairy Queen. Our dream is that we can live our lives with dignity and with as much independence as possible.
Thank you
